The ABB TU813 3BSE036714R1 is an 8-channel, 250 V compact Module Termination Unit (MTU) for the ABB S800 I/O system. It connects field wiring to compatible I/O modules through three rows of crimp snap-in connectors. Furthermore, it distributes the ModuleBus and transfers position signals between adjacent MTUs to establish the correct module address.

ModuleBus Distribution and Mechanical Configuration

The TU813 performs more than a field wiring connection function. It distributes the ModuleBus to the installed I/O module and the next MTU in the assembly. Meanwhile, it shifts outgoing position signals to the next termination unit, allowing the system to establish the correct address for each I/O module.

Two mechanical keys configure the TU813 for different I/O module types. Each key has six positions, providing 36 possible mechanical configurations. This arrangement identifies the required mechanical configuration without changing the electrical functionality of the MTU or the connected I/O module.

Mounting and Environmental Conditions

The TU813 supports horizontal and vertical mounting. However, the maximum ambient temperature depends on the mounting direction: 55 deg C for horizontal installation and 40 deg C for vertical installation. Therefore, the mounting orientation should be considered when checking the operating temperature limits.

In addition, the unit has an IP20 protection rating and supports 5-95% relative humidity without condensation. Its corrosion protection classification is ISA-S71.04 G3.
