Advanced Manufacturing Line Boosts Domestic Production
ABB India Limited has commissioned a new variable speed drives (VSD) production line at Peenya factory in Bengaluru. The investment enhances 25% of domestic manufacturing capacity and increases industrial sector energy efficiency. The automated facility employs Industry 4.0-grade robotics to augment productivity, quality, and security while lowering lead times by up to 40%.
Focus on Energy-Efficient Industrial Solutions
The expansion is oriented towards strategic business areas such as buildings, data centers, water, cement, and metals. ABB intends to provide flexible, reliable local production that can provide ordered-make VSD systems customized to Indian industry needs.
Automation and Localisation Commitment
AR Madhusudan, ABB India Business Line Manager of Drive Products, reiterated that the improved factory makes the processes more reliable, quick, and nimble. Robotics and sensor-based quality check and digital real-time visibility improve consistency and safety in the process.
Enabling India's Energy Efficiency and Industrialisation Aims
Tuomo Hoysniemi, ABB Motion Drive Products' President, indicated that local manufacturing is consistent with India's energy efficiency programs and nation-wide initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat. The growth allows industries to become leaner, cleaner, and energy-efficient.
Milestones and Industry Impact
The Peenya facility is marking 50 years of innovation in ABB VSD around the world and 20 years of domestic production in India. This expansion highlights ABB's leadership in industrial automation, PLC, and DCS solutions, while contributing to India's factory automation economy.
Application Scenario
Indian industries can now access locally produced faster VSDs for energy-efficient control of motors, reducing operational costs and improving process reliability.
