Product Description

The BMXCPS2000 is a power supply module for the Modicon X80 automation platform. It converts a 100-240 VAC primary supply into separate DC outputs for sensor power, I/O modules and processor power, and I/O module logic. The module provides secondary overload, overvoltage and short-circuit protection, along with status LEDs and a RESET push-button for cold restart.

DC Output Distribution

The BMXCPS2000 supplies three DC power outputs for different rack loads. The 24 VDC sensor output supports field sensors, while the separate 24 VDC output supplies the I/O modules and processor. A third 3.3 VDC output powers I/O module logic.

These outputs have separate current ratings and defined power capacities. When checking the rack configuration, account for the consumption of the connected processor, I/O modules and sensors rather than treating the total output ratings as one interchangeable supply.

The module accepts a nominal 100-240 VAC supply, with an operating input range of 85-264 VAC and a frequency range of 47-63 Hz. Its inrush current reaches 30 A at 120 V AC and 60 A at 240 V AC, so the input supply and upstream protective devices must account for the startup current.

The secondary circuits include overload, overvoltage and short-circuit protection. The primary circuit uses an internal fuse that is not accessible. The module also provides a 1 ms immunity to microbreaks.

Status Indication and Restart

Green status LEDs indicate whether the rack voltage and sensor voltage are OK. These indicators help maintenance personnel identify the reported power status during troubleshooting. The front RESET push-button initiates a cold restart; it should not be treated as a substitute for isolating the power supply before electrical maintenance.
