Product Description

The Bachmann DIO280 is a digital input/output module for the Bachmann M200 control system. It combines 32 digital inputs, 32 digital outputs and 16 configurable input/output channels, providing 80 digital channels in total. The module also supports eight configurable interrupt inputs, up to four 32-bit counters and PWM output control for inductive loads, including pneumatic and hydraulic valves.

Digital Input and Output Configuration

The DIO280 handles discrete field signals from sensors, switches and photocells, while its digital outputs control external devices such as relays and contactors. Sixteen channels can be configured as either inputs or outputs, allowing the channel allocation to match the application.

Counter and Interrupt Functions

Eight interrupt inputs can be configured for event handling or counter functions. Up to four 32-bit counters support event counting, incremental encoder processing, gate time measurement, period duration measurement and frequency measurement.

The module supports single-channel pulse encoders and incremental encoders with A and B channels. Maximum input frequency is 50 kHz for single-channel signals and 20 kHz for dual-channel signals.

PWM Output Control

The outputs support pulse-width modulation (PWM) with a configurable duty cycle and frequency. This function allows control signals to be adjusted for inductive loads. For valve applications, the module also provides a configurable holding time to support reduced-power holding operation.

Outputs can be connected in parallel when they operate in the same operating mode. The specified maximum output current is 0.5 A per channel; the total output current limit must also be considered when configuring the module.
