Product Description

The ABB PM860K01 3BSE018100R1 is a processor unit kit for the AC 800M control system. It combines the PM860 CPU with a TP830 baseplate, bus terminators, a memory backup battery, and a 4-position power plug. The CPU uses an MPC860 microprocessor and provides RAM, Flash PROM, a real-time clock, and Ethernet and serial communication interfaces for controller operation and configuration.

Processing and Memory

The processor provides 16 MB of RAM, available from 800xA 5.1 FP4 onwards, and 2 MB of Flash PROM for firmware storage. Meanwhile, the real-time clock supports time-related controller functions, and the memory backup battery helps retain supported memory contents when the main power supply is interrupted.

Communication Interfaces

The TP830 baseplate provides two RJ45 Ethernet ports, CN1 and CN2, for Control Network connections. These ports support 10 Mbit/s Ethernet and use MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification) and IAC (Inter Application Communication) protocols.

In addition, the baseplate provides two RJ45 serial interfaces:

• COM3: RS-232C interface with modem control signals for serial communication.
• COM4: Isolated serial interface for connecting configuration tools, such as ABB 800xA Control Builder.
