Modelis 4609 Paplašinātā komunikācijas modulis (ACM) darbojas kā saskarne starp Tricon kontrolieri un Foxboro Intelligent Automation (I/A) Series sistēmu, parādoties Foxboro sistēmai kā drošības mezgls I/A Series Nodebus. ACM pārraida procesa informāciju pilnā tīkla datu ātrumā, lai to varētu izmantot jebkur I/A Series sistēmā, pārraidot visu Tricon aizvietoto datu (ieskaitot sistēmas mainīgos un sistēmas aizvietotājus) un diagnostikas informāciju operatoru darba stacijām attēlošanas formātos, kas ir pazīstami Foxboro operatoriem. ACM nodrošina šādas funkcijas I/A Series:

• Apstrādā kritiskos I/O punktus un nodod rezultātus I/A Series, izmantojot Objektu pārvaldības datubāzi (OMDB)
• Apstrādā Tricon trauksmes un izplata tās uz lietotāja definētajiem I/A Series galamērķiem (konsolēm, printeriem utt.)

• Izplata Tricon trauksmes kā I/A Series sistēmas ziņojumus
• Nolasa/raksta aizstājvārdus datus, lai apmierinātu I/A Series pieprasījumus
• Laika sinhronizācija no I/A Series vides
• Nolasa Tricon diagnostiku, lai to parādītu I/A Series darba stacijā
• Rakstīšanas aizsardzība, lai bloķētu izmaiņas Tricon kontrolierī no visiem I/A Series avotiem
• Karstā rezerves iespēja nepārtrauktai saziņai ar I/A Series Nodebus
