Il modello 4609 Il Modulo di Comunicazione Avanzata (ACM) funge da interfaccia tra un controller Tricon e un sistema Foxboro Intelligent Automation (I/A) Series, apparendo al sistema Foxboro come un nodo di sicurezza sul Nodebus della Serie I/A. L'ACM comunica le informazioni di processo a piena velocità di rete per l'uso ovunque nel sistema I/A Series, trasmettendo tutti i dati alias di Tricon (inclusi variabili di sistema e alias di sistema) e informazioni diagnostiche alle postazioni di lavoro degli operatori in formati di visualizzazione familiari agli operatori Foxboro. L'ACM rende disponibili le seguenti funzioni alla Serie I/A:

• Gestisce i punti I/O critici e passa i risultati alla Serie I/A utilizzando il Database di Gestione Oggetti (OMDB)
• Elabora gli allarmi Tricon e li propaga alle destinazioni I/A Series definite dall'utente (console, stampanti, ecc.)

• Propaga gli allarmi Tricon come messaggi di sistema I/A Series
• Legge/scrive dati alias per soddisfare le richieste I/A Series
• Sincronizzazione temporale dall'ambiente I/A Series
• Legge la diagnostica Tricon per la visualizzazione da parte della workstation I/A Series
• Protezione in scrittura per bloccare le modifiche al controller Tricon da tutte le fonti I/A Series
• Capacità hot-spare per una comunicazione ininterrotta con l'I/A Series Nodebus
