Die 3500/60 & 61 Module bieten sechs Kanäle zur Temperaturüberwachung und akzeptieren sowohl Widerstandstemperaturdetektoren (RTD) als auch Thermoelemente (TC) als Temperatureingänge. Die Module bereiten diese Eingänge auf und vergleichen sie mit benutzerprogrammierbaren Alarmgrenzwerten. Die 3500/60 und 3500/61 bieten identische Funktionen, wobei die 3500/61 für jeden ihrer sechs Kanäle Recorder-Ausgänge bereitstellt, die 3500/60 jedoch nicht.

Der Benutzer programmiert die Module, um entweder RTD- oder TC-Temperaturmessungen mit der 3500 Rack Konfigurationssoftware durchzuführen. Verschiedene I/O-Module sind in RTD/TC nicht isolierten oder TC-isolierten Versionen erhältlich. Der Benutzer kann die RTD/TC nicht isolierte Version so konfigurieren, dass entweder TC oder RTD oder eine Mischung aus TC- und RTD-Eingängen akzeptiert wird. Die TC-isolierte Version bietet 250 Vdc Kanal-zu-Kanal-Isolation zum Schutz vor externen Störungen. Bei Verwendung in einer Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) Konfiguration müssen Temperaturüberwacher nebeneinander in Gruppen von drei installiert werden. In dieser Konfiguration verwendet das System zwei Arten von Abstimmungen, um einen genauen Betrieb sicherzustellen und Einzelpunktfehler zu vermeiden.
