Product Description

The BACHMANN DPM200 is a PROFIBUS DP communication module for the M200 controller system. It exchanges process data between the controller and PROFIBUS devices, supporting master, slave, and combined master/slave operation. The module provides two 9-pin D-sub connectors, 8 KB of process image memory, and communication rates up to 12 Mbaud for distributed automation applications.

Communication Functions

The DPM200 connects an M200 controller to PROFIBUS DP networks for cyclic process data exchange with compatible field devices. Depending on the configured operating mode, it can act as a DP Master, DP Slave, or combined Master/Slave. This allows the controller to exchange data with remote I/O stations and other PROFIBUS-based equipment.

The module supports transfer rates from 9.6 kbaud to 12 Mbaud. It can manage up to 32 slaves without a repeater or up to 125 slaves with a repeater, subject to the network configuration and applicable PROFIBUS limits.

The DPM200 provides shared process image memory for exchanging data between the PROFIBUS network and the controller. Its data consistency locking function helps maintain consistent process data during access, while configurable data handling supports the requirements of the control application.
