Product Description

The Bachmann DIO264 is a digital input/output module for handling discrete control signals. It supports configurable input and output channels, interrupt inputs, and 32-bit counter functions. Depending on the selected operating mode, the module can process event counts, incremental encoder signals, gate-time measurements, cycle times, and frequency measurements. It also supports configurable input filtering, PWM output mode, and LED status indication for channel monitoring.

Digital Input and Output Functions

The DIO264 handles both digital signal acquisition and output control. It reads signals from sensors, switches and detectors, while its outputs can operate contactors, relays, and pneumatic or hydraulic valves. The module provides 16 configurable channels that can be assigned as inputs or outputs, allowing the I/O configuration to match the control requirements.

Counter and Encoder Functions

The module provides eight configurable interrupt inputs and supports up to four 32-bit counters. These counters can operate in event-counting, incremental encoder, gate-time measurement, period-duration measurement, or frequency-measurement modes.

For encoder applications, the module supports A/B incremental encoders and single-channel pulse encoders. Users can select 1-edge, 2-edge, or 4-edge evaluation, or pulse-direction mode, depending on the signal arrangement. The maximum input frequency is 50 kHz for single-channel signals and 20 kHz for dual-channel signals.

Input Filtering and Output Control

The configurable input filter helps suppress short signal disturbances before the module processes digital input states. The standard filter setting is 600 us, with an adjustable range from 10 us to 270 ms.

For output control, PWM mode supports applications such as valve economy operation. A configurable holding time allows the output behavior to be adjusted for suitable valve applications. Individual green LEDs provide visual status indication for the channels.
