Compact Edge AI Platform Designed for Real-Time Vision Processing
Aetina has expanded its industrial edge computing portfolio with new palm-sized AI systems designed for multi-camera applications in transportation, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and industrial automation environments.
The new DeviceEdge AIE-VN34/44 and AIE-VO24/34 platforms combine compact mechanical design with high-performance AI computing capabilities. Based on NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX and Jetson Orin Nano modules, these systems provide local AI processing for demanding vision workloads without depending on cloud-based computing.
From an industrial automation perspective, this architecture represents a shift toward decentralized intelligence. By moving image processing closer to field devices, manufacturers can reduce communication delays and improve decision-making speed in safety-critical applications.
NVIDIA Jetson Architecture Delivers Scalable AI Performance
The AIE-VN34/44 system provides up to 100 TOPS of AI computing performance, while the AIE-VO24/34 delivers up to 67 TOPS. These processing capabilities allow the platforms to handle complex artificial intelligence workloads, including object recognition, machine vision analysis, and autonomous navigation.
Both systems are optimized for NVIDIA Jetson Orin computing modules, providing a flexible hardware foundation for developers building intelligent edge applications.
For industrial users, this modular approach reduces engineering effort because the same computing platform can support different AI models and application requirements through software customization.
Four GMSL2 Camera Interfaces Enable Multi-Vision Applications
A key feature of the new systems is the integration of four GMSL2 camera connections using Fakra-Z interfaces. This configuration supports long-distance, low-latency image transmission, making the platforms suitable for multi-camera perception systems.
Validated GMSL2 adapter boards and camera modules provide simplified deployment, allowing cameras to transmit high-quality image data over distances of up to 15 m.
These capabilities support applications such as:
- Surround-view monitoring systems
- Blind-spot detection
- Obstacle recognition
- Autonomous navigation
- Automated industrial inspection
In modern automation environments, multi-camera perception is becoming an important sensing layer. Combining several camera inputs with local AI processing enables machines to understand their surroundings more accurately and respond faster.
Rugged Industrial Design Supports Harsh Operating Conditions
The AIE-VN34/44 and AIE-VO24/34 systems are designed for operation in demanding industrial and mobile environments. Their fanless architecture reduces mechanical failure risks while improving long-term system stability.
The platforms have completed MIL-STD-810H shock and vibration testing, demonstrating suitability for applications exposed to mechanical stress.
Additionally, E-Mark (E24) certification supports automotive deployment requirements. The wide 9 - 36 V DC power input range allows direct integration into vehicle and industrial power systems.
The integrated Ignition Power Control function provides controlled startup and shutdown management, helping prevent unexpected system interruptions during mobile operation.
Comprehensive Connectivity for Industrial Integration
The systems provide multiple communication interfaces for integration with industrial equipment and vehicle platforms.
Available interfaces include:
- Isolated CAN FD
- GPIO and RS-232
- Gigabit Ethernet
- USB 3.2
- HDMI
- M.2 M-Key storage interface
An optional M.2 E-Key interface enables wireless expansion for applications requiring additional communication capabilities.
This combination of industrial communication interfaces allows the platforms to connect with sensors, controllers, cameras, and external devices commonly used in automation systems.
Supporting the Next Generation of Intelligent Automation
According to Aetina, real-time multi-camera perception is becoming a fundamental capability for AI-driven machines, including vehicles, AMRs, and industrial equipment.
The combination of compact hardware, NVIDIA Jetson AI acceleration, automotive certification, and GMSL2 camera support creates a practical platform for large-scale deployment of intelligent vision systems.
In my view as an industrial automation engineer, the importance of these systems extends beyond computing performance. The real value lies in integrating AI processing, industrial communication, and rugged hardware into a single edge platform. This approach helps manufacturers build smarter machines while reducing system complexity and deployment time.
